RADIANT Technology has introduced SafeTurn, a portable turn coordinator that uses a solid state gyroscope, along with an embedded accelerometer, to create a turn coordinator.
“Unlike vacuum gyros, it can’t be tumbled,” say company officials.
“If you want a backup turn coordinator that is always ready to go, SafeTurn is perfect,” said James Wiebe, CEO of RADIANT. “It has a price point that anyone can afford. It will even work in a car.”
The device, which can be powered and recharged from any USB port, is priced at $99.95.
Features of the turn coordinator include:
2.525 x 2.525 x 0.525 inches
Five-hour battery life on full battery, longer if you dim the screen
Three-year warranty
Daylight readable display
Push button calibration anytime, to compensate for gyro drift
True electronic gyro (not synthesized from GPS) for turn coordination
Slip indicator for keeping turns centered
In addition to analog graphic (airplane tilts to left or right), a digital turn rate value is also provided
USB charging (cable included)
Flat back allows velcroing to your instrument panel
Available to order now, first shipments are expected in late May 2025, company officials said.
The $99.95 price is introductory and may change without notice, subject to possible regulatory tariffs, company officials noted.
