Sam Worthington has been cast in the lead role of the upcoming Harlan Coben Netflix limited series adaptation of “I Will Find You,” Variety has learned.
Variety exclusively reported the show was picked up at Netflix in November 2024. It is an adaptation of Coben’s book of the same name. Worthington will star as David Burroughs, described as “a father serving a life sentence for the murder of his own son— a crime he didn’t commit, yet a tragedy he punishes himself for every day.”
The official series logline states, “An innocent father serving life for the murder of his own son receives evidence that his child may still be alive—and must break out of prison to find out the truth.”
Worthington has previously worked with Netflix on the films “Lift,” “Fractured,” and “The Titan.” This will be his first time leading a series for the streamer. He is also known for his roles in James Cameron’s “Avatar” films as well as for features like “Clash of the Titans,” “Wrath of the Titans,” “Hacksaw Ridge,” “Terminator Salvation,” and “Horizon: An American Saga.” He has previously starred in shows such as “Under the Banner of Heaven” at FX and “Manhunt” for Discovery.
He is repped by WME, Anonymous Content, and Hansen Jacobson.
“I Will Find You” is the latest series from Coben under his Netflix deal. He has also partnered with the streaming giant on the shows “Missing You,” “Fool Me Once,” “Stay Close,” “The Stranger,” “The Innocent,” “Gone for Good,” “Hold Tight” and “The Woods.” Upcoming projects include “Caught” and “Run Away” in addition to “I Will Find You.”
Coben is a co-creator and executive producer on “I Will Find You” via Final Twist Productions. Robert Hull is also a co-creator in addition to serving as executive producer and showrunner. Bryan Wynbrandt, Steven Lilien, and John Weber also executive produce.
