Selma Blair is set to take the lead in upcoming supernatural thriller “Silent” from filmmaking duo Doron and Yoaz Paz (“Jerusalem,” “The Golem”).
The film, being produced by Roundtable Entertainment and Templeheart Films, has been launched by Architect ahead of EFM. Architect rep worldwide sales and are co-representing North American rights with Roundtable. Production is due to start in Vancouver this summer.
In “Silent,” Blair will play Skylar, a sound designer hired anonymously to create the audio for a rare silent film. Disturbed by its contents, Skylar is nonetheless increasingly obsessed with her work, and unwittingly finds herself caught up in a dark ritual that unlocks an ancient evil, threatening to consume her and her young daughter.
“We’re thrilled to be collaborating with Selma Blair on this unique project. We believe the best horror emerges from remarkable character building. That’s why Selma is perfect for this movie. You care about her and her journey. When you care about the characters, the frightening moments hit much harder,” said the Paz Brothers, who are directing from a script written by Stephen Herman (“Black Box”).
“‘Silent’ is ultimately a family drama about tragedy folded into an unexpected, nerve-wracking thrill ride of sound. We can’t wait to show fans a new, dark, captivating side of Selma, in a role audiences have never seen before.”
Sean Robins (“Mortal Kombat,” “Tag”), Marcia Do Vales, John Baldecchi (“Happy Death Day,” “Point Break”) and Sarah Donnelly (“All My Friends Are Dead”) are producing, with executive producers Dominic Ianno (“Soul Surfer,” “Whistleblower”), Jason Resnick (“Kidnap”) and Alex Dundas for Roundtable Entertainment, alongside Lyndon Baldock from Templeheart Films; Mark Sandell and Nick Oleksiw.
“This is triumphant moment in Selma’s remarkable return to acting after a courageous public journey through MS,” said producer Donnelly. “She’s a champion. That personal experience brings an incomparable depth to her understanding and exploration of the character. Audiences will see a completely untapped side of Selma, much like the unexpected, elevated genre turns from esteemed actors in films like ‘The Ring’ and ‘Hereditary.’ We still have some surprises up our sleeves with the cast, including a highly anticipated reunion.”
Architect’s Gray added: “Silent is a truly memorable and atmospheric high concept horror and a unique take on the possession genre. It excels in world building, ultra relatable characters and well-crafted scares and with the supremely talented Paz brothers helming, we are super confident that this team can deliver an indelible theatrical experience for global, genre loving audiences in 2026.”
Behind the camera, the filmmakers have assembled an expert team of technicians, including BAFTA nominated sound designer Richard Kondal (“47 Meters Down” franchise, “I Am Not a Witch,” “Under the Shadow”) and cinematographer Itai Neeman (“Spy,” “Outer Banks,” “Homeland”).
