SPT to Unveil Competition Format ‘100 Choices’ at London Screenings

Sony Pictures Television (SPT) is set to showcase its newly-acquired family competition format, “100 Choices,” at the London Screenings. Acquired from Japan’s Fany Studio, this competition format brings a blend of physical challenges and brain-busting questions.

In 100 Choices, contestants are presented with a nearly impossible question and 100 potential answers. To help narrow down the possibilities, they must tackle five physical challenges, with each success enabling them to eliminate incorrect options. The result is a dynamic format that combines brains, brawn and teamwork for maximum entertainment value. The show is designed for family-friendly programming and has the flexibility to be adapted for both prime-time studio shoots and location-based productions.

Originally developed by Fany Studio in Tokyo and first aired in October 2023 on BS Yoshimoto, “100 Choices” was picked out by SPT for its international potential, which acquired global distribution rights following its successful showcase at the 2023 Asia TV Forum. To support its international rollout, SPT has partnered with local production companies, including Stellify (UK), B17 Entertainment (U.S.), Curio (Australia), Teleset (Mexico) and Floresta (Brazil) to represent the format in various territories.

Laura St. Clair, SVP, International Formats at Sony Pictures Television, highlighted the format’s broad appeal, saying: “’100 Choices’ is a unique new take on family entertainment and comedy game show genres. We love the strength of the central format premise, which makes it suitable to adapt for both weekend studio prime time and location shoots. We’re excited to work with the team at FANY Studio to bring this fantastic format to our buyers around the world – and we can’t wait to unveil it at London Screenings later this month.”

FANY Studio’s Mari Kawamura echoed the sentiment, saying: “The ‘100 Choices’ format idea was originally the first episode in the ‘World Homerun Factory’ series airing on BS Yoshimoto. The series put together the brains of comedians and producers to create global formats. I am deeply impressed by how this format embodies the very essence of the HomerunFactory mission through its adaptability and international relevance. ‘100 Choices’ strives to take flight in the global market now. With the support of SPT, I sincerely hope this format will become one that is loved around the world.”

The format will be officially unveiled at SPT’s London Screenings 2025 on Feb. 27th, where it will offer exclusive previews of its latest non-scripted formats and scripted drama titles.
