Netflix has unveiled an ambitious 2025 Korean content lineup anchored by “Squid Game 3,” which expands its universe with a roster including Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul and Park Gyu-young joining returning stars Lee Jung-jae and Lee Byung-hun.
The series, premiering June 27, delves deeper into Gi-hun’s choices amid overwhelming despair while exploring the Front Man’s next moves.
The streamer kicked off 2025 with romance “When The Stars Gossip,” starring Lee Min-ho as a space tourist who falls for Korean-American astronaut Kong Hyo Jin. Dating reality show “Single’s Inferno” returned for its milestone fourth season, followed by medical drama “The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call,” featuring Ju Ji-hoon as a genius trauma surgeon rebuilding a hospital team. The titles bowed in January.
First quarter releases continue with “Bogotá: City of the Lost” (Feb. 4), following Song Joong-ki’s journey through Colombia’s black market, and “Melo Movie” (Feb. 14), a romance starring Choi Woo-shik and Park Bo-young about film industry dreamers. March brings “The Potato Lab” with Lee Sun-bin and Kang Tae-oh in a whimsical romantic comedy, while “When Life Gives You Tangerines” pairs IU and Park Bo-gum in a Jeju Island romance releasing weekly starting March 7.
The supernatural thriller “Revelations” joins the Q1 lineup, starring Ryu Jun-yeol as a pastor who receives divine messages to punish a kidnapper, alongside Shin Hyun-been as a detective haunted by her sister’s death. The film marks another collaboration between “Hellbound” creators Yeon Sang-ho and Choi Gyu-seok, with Alfonso Cuarón serving as executive producer.
The second quarter features “Resident Playbook,” a “Hospital Playlist” spin-off following ob-gyn residents, and “Heavenly Ever After,” where Kim Hye-ja and Son Suk-ku find romance in the afterlife. Crime thriller “Mercy for None” marks So Ji-sub’s return to noir action, while “Tastefully Yours” stars Kang Ha-neul as a chaebol heir turned recipe hunter.
High-stakes crime thriller “Karma” features Park Hae-soo as a man entangled in a dangerous deal after witnessing a mysterious event, with Shin Min-a playing a doctor confronting childhood trauma. Star power extends to the second season of “Weak Hero Class 2,” where Park Ji-hoon reprises his role as Yeon Si-eun, now facing greater violence at his new school alongside newcomers Ryeo-un and Choi Min-yeong.
Unscripted content expands with “Kian’s Bizarre B&B” featuring YouTuber Kian84’s unique guesthouse venture, and “The Devil’s Plan Season 2” bringing together baduk (go) champion Lee Se-dol and “Beef” star Justin H. Min. The slate includes documentary “The Echoes of Survivors: Inside Korea‘s Tragedies,” continuing the impactful storytelling of “In the Name of God.”
Third quarter releases include apartment thriller “Wall to Wall” starring Kang Ha-neul, youth romance “Love Untangled” with Gong Myoung and Shin Eun-soo, dating makeover series “Better Late Than Single,” and contract killer drama “Mantis” featuring Yim Si-wan. Kim Nam-gil and Kim Young-kwang face off in action thriller “Trigger,” while Lee Ha-nee leads period drama “Aema.” The friendship saga “You and Everything Else” stars Kim Go-eun and Park Ji-hyun, complemented by variety show “Crime Scene Zero.”
The year closes with Sul Kyung-gu’s 1970s hijacking thriller “Good News,” supernatural romance “Genie, Make a Wish” reuniting Kim Woo-bin and Suzy, and domestic noir “As You Stood By” with Jeon So-nee and Lee You-mi. Kim Da-mi and Park Hae-soo face apocalyptic floods in “The Great Flood,” while Lee Jun-ho gains cash-based superpowers in “Cashero.”
The slate rounds out with “Can This Love Be Translated?” starring Kim Seon-ho as a polyglot translator, mystery thriller “The Price of Confession” pairing Jeon Do-yeon with Kim Go-eun, and two major unscripted expansions: “Physical: Asia” transforming into a multinational competition and “Culinary Class Wars Season 2” building on its record-breaking first season success.
Netflix’s first Korean animated film “Lost in Starlight” features Kim Tae-ri voicing an astronaut in a Mars-Earth romance, while period mystery “Dear Hongrang” stars Lee Jae-wook and Cho Bo-ah in a tale of missing persons and family secrets.
