Stephen King Returns to X/Twitter to Slam Donald Trump, Elon Musk

Stephen King made a surprise return to X on Feb. 20 to tell off President Trump and Elon Musk, the latter of which owns the social media platform. Three months ago, the horror icon announced he was leaving X in the aftermath of Trump being reelected U.S. president. King has called Bluesky his social media home since then.

“I’m baaaack! Did you miss me?” King wrote on X to his 6.8 million followers before adding: “Just wanted to say that Trump is a traitorous, Putin-loving dipshit! Goes double for Elon!”

King originally announced his X exit on Nov. 14, 2024 in a post in which he explained: “I’m leaving Twitter. Tried to stay, but the atmosphere has just become too toxic. Follow me on Threads, if you like.” He quickly gained a following on Bluesky, where he continued to speak critically of Trump.

“Just when you think Donald Trump cannot sink lower or be more shameful, today he’s blaming Ukraine for the war and calling Zelensky a dictator, when he knows perfectly well that Putin’s constant re-elections are put-up jobs,” King wrote on Bluesky a day before returning X.

In a Bluesky post a week before his X return, the author wrote: “Trump and Musk are basically ignoring the Constitution they — Trump, at least — took an oath to defend.”

King returned to X on the eve of the theatrical release of Osgood Perkins’ “The Monkey,” which is based on his short story. As of now he is not promoting the movie on the social media platform and is just slamming Trump and Musk. His post earned more than 100,000 likes and counting in four hours.
