Do you use Google to look up information about topics in aviation that are important to you?
So do I.
But have you noticed the summary Google provides above the search results? It is titled “AI Overview.”
That summary exists because those of us in the aviation media take the time and energy to report and write about such topics.
Only then does Google come along to vacuum up our efforts so it can produce its “AI Overview.”
If not for our efforts, Google would have a much harder time creating those summaries — summaries that I believe have every intention of keeping you on Google instead of clicking through to the General Aviation News website or any number of other aviation websites.
So what can be done?

Subscribe to General Aviation News, of course, but also AVweb, and ByDanJohnson, and join the Experimental Aircraft Association and the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, and whatever other associations and producers of aviation media that scratch your aviation itch.
I admit that is a self-serving request.
But if you take advantage of Google’s AI Overviews, as I do from time to time, be sure to support the foundation those summaries are built upon.
