Nineties indie-rock is alive and well this summer thanks to the Flaming Lips and Modest Mouse, who have announced they will co-headline a U.S. tour together. The genre stalwarts have tapped Chicago bands Friko and Dehd to open select concerts on the route. Check out the bands’ full list of tour dates below.
The co-headlining run kicks off on August 1, in Atlanta, Georgia, and ends on September 11, in Troutdale, Oregon. Along the way, the Flaming Lips and Modest Mouse will perform in Philadelphia, Cincinnati, Minneapolis, Houston, Los Angeles, and many more cities. Tickets go on sale this Friday, March 28, at 10 a.m. local time, with special artist pre-sales starting on Wednesday, March 26.
Last year, Modest Mouse rang in the 20th anniversary of Good News for People Who Love Bad News with a special album reissue and tour. Frontman Isaac Brock and his bandmates also dug through their personal collection of music gear to sell over 500 items—including vintage synthesizers, amps, pedals, and microphones—on Reverb.
Meanwhile, the Flaming Lips have been in a nostalgic mood, too, ringing in the 20th anniversary of Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots with a long tour and additional career-spanning shows beginning in 2022.
