This June, The Hoxton will open its doors in Edinburgh’s vibrant and historic Haymarket. The design-driven, community-focused Hox will comprise 11 stitched-together townhouses set across both sides of the street, with original Georgian features celebrated and elevated by Ennismore’s in-house design team, AIME Studios. The hotel will feature 214 rooms including three self-contained homes (coming later in the summer), a spacious lobby offering cosy corners and vaulted ceilings in equal measure, an intimate cinema, a ballroom events space, The Apartment meeting and events concept, and all-day Italian restaurant Patatino, that will serve up generously portioned trattoria classics using local Scottish produce.
Catering to all manner of traveller, the 214 rooms will come in nine categories, including Snug Single and Bunk rooms which are perfect crash pads for solo trips or stays with mates, and Hox classics: Cosy, Roomy and Biggy. In addition, Edinburgh will feature The Hoxton’s new House category: three self-contained three-bed, three-bath homes, ideal for those looking to live like a local. All rooms will spotlight the property’s original features, which have been meticulously preserved to offer guests a sense of the hotel’s heritage throughout all room types – eclectic vibes will be bolstered by ornate lighting, rich colours palettes and sumptuous textiles. The Hoxton’s signature open-house lobby will bring a community-focused space to Haymarket; versatile enough to grab a coffee in a cosy corner, work remotely in stylish surrounds or knock back a wee swally as the evening draws in. Regular cultural programming will champion local partners and support the thriving creative communities across Edinburgh, and with a pocket-sized screening room seating just five lucky cinema-goers, only one question remains: sweet or salty?
Patatino brings a fresh new addition to Edinburgh’s eclectic restaurant scene, serving hearty Italian dishes in a laid-back romantic atmosphere. Designed to express the flavours, ingredients, energy and joyous hospitality of long and boozy meals with friends on holiday on the Amalfi coast, Patatino transports guests to a trattoria in Sorrento, with all the chic sophistication of a Neapolitan aperitivo bar and none of the pretence.
The Apartment meeting and events space will be located on the ground floor of the hotel, with four rooms centred around a communal Pantry. Lending itself perfectly to parties, private dining and meetings big and small, the space will offer a distinctly homey feel with decorative panelled walls, and vintage furniture and fixings. In addition, a ballroom-style events space, aptly named The Get Together, is perfect for grander occasions and is the ideal setting for a Scottish hooley in the big city!
Haymarket is a hub of activity in the West End of the city and offers an ideal base to visit iconic cultural hotspots such as nearby New Town, Murrayfield Stadium and Castle Rock. Inspired by Edinburgh’s Georgian heritage, AIME Studios references the Neoclassical style so closely associated with the neighbourhood throughout the hotel’s design, perfectly juxtaposed with more contemporary block colours and clean lines, representative of the liveliness and informal feel of Haymarket. AIME Studios collaborated with Bauwerk Colour to create the Neighbourhood Collection of sustainable, lime wash paints, giving a behind-the-scenes peek into the design process of creating a Hoxton. Paying homage to the elegant, time-worn facades and distinctive stonework of the newest Hox neighbourhood, colours Moss and Haymarket give guests a taste of what’s to come in Edinburgh.
