Hulu’s upcoming series “The Testaments,” a sequel to “The Handmaid’s Tale,” has cast Lucy Halliday in the role of Daisy.
“The Testaments” is based on Margaret Atwood’s novel of the same name. It follows three protagonists — Aunt Lydia (played by “Handmaid’s Tale” star Ann Dowd), Agnes (Chase Infiniti) and Daisy, a young Canadian teen whose life is turned upside down when she discovers her connection to the Republic of Gilead.
“The Testaments” takes place 15 years after the events of “The Handmaid’s Tale,” which airs its sixth and finale season on Hulu in April. The novel alternates between the perspectives of the three women. Atwood published the book in 2019, 34 years after the release of “The Handmaid’s Tale.”
Like “The Handmaid’s Tale,” “The Testaments” is created by Bruce Miller, who also serves as showrunner. He executive produces alongside Steve Stark and Warren Littlefiend of The Littlefield Company. MGM Television is the studio.
In the upcoming final season of “The Handmaid’s Tale,” June is pulled back into the fight to take down Gilead, and Luke and Moira join the resistance. Per the logline, “Serena tries to reform Gilead while Commander Lawrence and Aunt Lydia reckon with what they have wrought, and Nick faces challenging tests of character.”
Halliday recently finished shooting a role in James McAvoy’s “California Schemin’.” She won a Scottish BAFTA Award for lead actress for playing Lois in the indie film “Blue Jean” and was nominated for the role at the British Independent Film Awards in 2022.
Halliday is represented by Curtis Brown Group and Myman Greenspan Fox Rosenberg Mobasser Younger & Light LLP.
