ThinKom Solutions, Inc. (ThinKom), a longtime leader in the satcom antenna space, is expanding its government and military offerings with the ThinAir® GT Plus terminal. This solution, unveiled at SATELLITE 2025 in Washington, DC, delivers true resiliency, flexibility, reliability, and performance, without compromise.
The GT Plus combines ThinKom’s field-proven GT2517 antenna, providing Ka-band GEO, MEO, HEO, and LEO connectivity while supporting demanding airborne defense and special missions, with a compact LEO-only ESA in a standards-compliant installation. The combined hybrid satcom system offers multi-beam, multi-band, and multi-orbit connectivity, while continuing to provide the industry’s highest spectral efficiency antennas that ThinKom has become well known for. The low total package weight, combined with the low-profile, aerodynamic radome, supports lower fuel burn and extended time on station for critical missions.
“ThinKom continues to lead the industry, delivering the highest performing connectivity solutions from every orbit to every mission,” adds CTO Bill Milroy. “The GT2517 is already the leading multi-constellation terminal available. We are excited that GT Plus will now further extend that capability with true multi-band and multi-beam capabilities, expanding the communications options available for our government partners.”
Delivering increased flexibility for government communications missions, the GT Plus supports the full range of Ka-band frequencies, as well as the wide instantaneous bandwidth required for Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum (DSSS), hopped waveforms, and Protected Tactical Waveforms (PTW). The GT Plus provides seamless global “pole-to-pole” operation on a wide array of networks: Full civil and extended civil Ka GEO (including WGS), Ka MEO, Ku and Ka LEO, and Ka HEO.
The small, light-weight ESA integrated into GT Plus is optimized to operate on proprietary LEO constellations and support missions that can benefit from lower latency communications. The ESA also adds global service capacity and redundancy on current LEO constellations, plus flexibility to grow as emergent pLEO constellations come online. It can be deployed without significantly impacting established weight and power budgets from the baseline terminal installation.
The flexible GT Plus architecture supports multiple proprietary ESA options, in either Ku or Ka-band. The intelligent, modular design includes provisions for rapid deployment of multiple ESA options, and accessibility to swap, maintain, and upgrade the ESA for any mission profile.
This exciting step forward in government airborne communications will be on display at SATELLITE 2025 at ThinKom Booth #1511 March 11th – 13th.
