Tickets are now on sale for the inaugural National Championship Air Races in Roswell, New Mexico.
The 2025 races kick off a new chapter for the event, which was held in Reno, Nevada, for 60 years.
The races, slated for Sept. 10-14, will feature seven classes of racing, as well as several hands-on displays and experiences including the STEM Education Discovery Zone, heritage displays, military demonstrations, static displays, and more, according to race officials. The event will also mark the fourth year of competition for STOL Drag, officials added.
“We’ve been working tirelessly for two years to bring this beloved and historic event to a new home and now that tickets are on sale, we’re excited to share it with New Mexico,” said Tony Logoteta, COO of the National Championship Air Races. “This is not only a new chapter for our organization but the start of a bold new era for the sport. Roswell provides us with an incredible backdrop and the opportunity to elevate the experience for fans, pilots, and the aviation community. We can’t wait for everyone to see the Roswell course, feel the energy of the competition, and be a part of history as we bring the thrill of racing to New Mexico.”
Race officials note that “immense excitement” for the inaugural races has led to an almost complete buy-out of hotels in Roswell.
“It is highly encouraged to take advantage of the event’s increased RV camping availability, providing attendees with the easiest way to travel to and attend the air races with plenty of space,” race officials said. “For those looking for hotels or short-term rentals, surrounding towns such as Artesia, Ruidoso, Carlsbad, and Portales also have lodging availability.”
Pilots who plan to fly to Roswell can reserve a spot on Avflight’s website.
