uAvionix has introduced echoESX EXP, a next-generation remotely mounted, Mode S ADS-B transponder designed specifically for general aviation aircraft.
The echoESX EXP, debuting at the 2025 SUN ‘n FUN Aerospace Expo, features a compact form factor, integrated SBAS GPS receiver, and seamless integration with uAvionix’s AV-30-E and AV-20-E control head panel displays, according to company officials.
The echoESX EXP expands the uAvionix family of remote-mounted ADS-B transponder solutions and builds upon the tailBeaconX, which is in a tail light. The echoESX EXP combines a remotely mounted Mode S transponder and 1090 MHz Extended Squitter (ES) ADS-B Out transmitter ideal for aircraft unable to accommodate the nav-light replacement, company officials noted.
echoESX EXP complements the uAvionix ecosystem, integrating with AV-20-E, AV-30-E, AV-HSI, AV-APA, AV-Link, and the ForeFlight Sentry ADS-B In products.
According to company officials, features of echoESX EXP include:
Integrated SBAS GPS receiver meets ADS-B Out requirements without additional hardware (only a TSO-C190 GPS antenna is required; a certified GPS antenna is optionally available from uAvionix)
Retrofit using your existing transponder antenna and TSO-C190 compliant GPS antenna
Compatible with uAvionix control heads, including AV-20-E and AV-30-E, which also provide altitude encoder functionality
Based on ping200X and ping200XR technology
Compliance with various avionics standards (DO-181E, DO-260B, DO-229E, DO-178C, DO-254, DO-160G).
The echoESX EXP for experimental aircraft is intended for use with ground-based ADS-B systems and available now for pre-orders. Price is $2,499. Shipping will begin in early summer 2025.
