On May 18, 2025, Uganda Airlines started its new nonstop service linking Entebbe (EBB) to London-Gatwick (LGW).
The new route reintroduces a direct service between the United Kingdom and the African country a decade after British Airways discontinued its services between London-Heathrow (LHR) and Entebbe.
As reported by AeroTime back in March 2025, when Uganda Airlines’ new service was announced, Heathrow had been the airline’s initial choice of airport, but the lack of slots and cost considerations led to it opting for Gatwick as its British gateway instead.
Uganda Airlines will use an Airbus A330-800neo aircraft to operate this new service. The A330-800neo is a rather rare aircraft type of which only eight units have ever been built (including a testbed aircraft used by Airbus). The aircraft is currently operated by only two other airlines in the world, Air Greenland and Kuwait Airways.
The African carrier operates the A300-800neo in a three-class configuration with 258 seats (20 in Business, 28 in Premium Economy and 210 in Economy class).
With the introduction of the route, London has become the flagship international destination for Uganda Airlines, at a time when the carrier is preparing to implement a strategic plan that envisages a significant expansion of its fleet and the doubling of its network within the next decade.
Uganda Airlines is said to be considering the acquisition of Airbus A320 and A321neo aircraft to fill the gap between its two A330-800neos and the three CRJ900 regional jets it operates within Africa. In April 2025, local media, quoting sources at airline, also reported that Uganda Airlines is potentially interested in launching flights to Guangzhou, China (CAN), if more long-haul aircraft become available.
Flight UR110 will depart from Entebbe to Gatwick four times weekly, departing at 00:05 on Tuesdays (arriving at 07:35), 00:25 on Wednesdays (arriving at 07:55), 03:10 on Fridays (arriving at 10:40), and 09:25 on Sundays (arriving at 16:55), all times local.
