Variety‘s Power of Women franchise has won a Gracie award from the Alliance for Women in Media Foundation for best entertainment website in the national digital media category.
This past year, Variety‘s Power of Women Oct. 23 issue honored actors Amy Adams, Carol Burnett, Zoe Saldaña and Bela Bajaria, Netflix’s chief content officer. Power of Women honorees were highlighted on four separate covers. The issue also included the year’s Women’s Impact Report recognizing industry insiders who are making a different in film, TV, music and more. Variety also honored actor Sarah Hyland with the first-ever Courage Award.
The Power of Women kudo will be presented to Variety on May 20 as part of the 50th annual Gracie Awards, which celebrates women’s voices and stories in media. Additional winners this year include Cristin Milioti, Kathy Bates, Keke Palmer, “Descendants: The Rise of Red,” “Dune: Prophecy,” “Megan Thee Stallion: In Her Words” and “Legacy Talk with Lena Waithe.” Actor and comedian Fortune Feimster is set to host the Gracies ceremony, to be held at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills.
“For 50 years, the Gracie Awards have honored the storytellers who push boundaries and redefine what’s possible,” AWMF’s president Becky Brooks said in a statement. “This is more than an awards show — it is a movement that has championed inclusion, representation, and truth in the media. The women we celebrate today are shaping the next 50 years, ensuring that our narratives are not just seen or heard, but felt and remembered.”
