Today, Viasat Inc., a global leader in satellite communications, unveiled an application hosting product called the Viasat Connected Partner Platform that enables airlines to enhance the in-flight Wi-Fi experience for passengers with curated apps, while simultaneously offering monetization opportunities.

Designed with flexibility that places the power of choice in the hands of airlines, the Viasat Connected Partner Platform is part of the company’s robust suite of digital products and includes a portfolio of strategic application providers that integrate with Viasat’s leading in-flight connectivity service.

For airline customers, the product offers optionality for in-flight retail, e-commerce for products and services, moving maps, games, and destination booking services that align with the airline’s preferred onboard experience and business objectives, while encouraging meaningful passenger engagement. The app hosting product also enables airlines to seamlessly host their own applications to provide their customers with an even more curated experience.

Partners currently in the platform include Omnevo, an end-to-end digital retail company, Gladi8tor Games, an inflight games producer, Bluebox, providing its Blueview order-to-seat app, FlightPath3D, leading flight tracking software, Mozio, global airport transfer booking platform, DiscoverCars.com, a global car rental broker, among others.
