Warner Bros. Discovery premium streaming service Max is set to launch in Turkey on April 15 in a key transition under which Turkish streamer BluTV is being rebranded and will morph into Max.
Warner Bros. Discovery underlined that Max is now committed to increasing its investment in local productions with new Turkish streaming originals added to the platform in coming months.
The new Turkish streamer will leverage BluTV’s local standing and combine it with a richer content lineup combining global hits from HBO and Max Originals, alongside BluTV’s Turkish originals. Subscribers to Max in Turkey will also have access to Eurosport, Cartoon Network and Cartoonito, CNN International, and Discovery+ shows. WBD acquired BluTV in 2023.
“By combining the best of BluTV’s content together with the global content from Max and its enhanced global platform, we’re not only improving the user experience, but also offering the subscribers much more to choose from,” said Jamie Cooke, general manager CEE, MENA and Turkey at Warner Bros. Discovery. “This marks a significant and exciting milestone in fully integrating BluTV into Warner Bros. Discovery’s global portfolio.”
The addition of Turkey, which is now the 77th Max territory, is being touted as a significant moment in the globalisation of the WBD streaming service that now has 116.9 million subscribers after adding 6.4 million in Q4 2024.
“As one of the most populous countries in the EMEA region, with more people than Germany, U.K, or France, the launch in Turkey presents a major opportunity to entertain and engage millions of new fans with high quality content across film and television from WBD’s world class studios,” the statement said.
