In Sierra Leone, coconuts are a household favourite. Locals eat the flesh and drink the juice. Now a young eco-entrepreneur initiative, the discarded husk has been put to good use.

Alhaji Siraj Bah recycles coconut husks into bio-briquettes through his visionary company, Rugsal Trading. The start-up provides an alternative to charcoal. The briquettes are smokeless when burned, helping reduce air pollution and deforestation.
