Mere days before they release Never Enough, their long-awaited fourth album, Turnstile visited The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to debut two new songs from the record: “I Care” and “Dull.” Surrounded by striped wallpaper, a pale pink carpet, and a framed photo of a rotary telephone, the Baltimore experimental hardcore band played the former 1980s-sounding pop-rock song while wearing retro over-the-ear headphones. To match the glitchy hardcore of the latter track, Turnstile were doused in red lighting while they jumped around onstage. Watch a replay below.
Never Enough, the follow-up album to 2021’s smash success Glow On, comes out this Friday, June 6, via Roadrunner. It’s Turnstile’s first LP with new guitarist Meg Mills, following Brady Ebert’s departure, and first since they received Grammy nominations.
The music videos for Turnstile’s previously released singles “Never Enough,” “Birds,” “Seein’ Stars,” and “Look Out for Me” are all part of the upcoming companion film Turnstile: Never Enough. That 50-minute movie, which was directed by singer Brendan Yates and guitarist Pat McCrory, includes all 14 songs from the record and will be screened at movie theaters around the country.
Later tonight, at New York’s AG Studios, Turnstile will be in conversation with writer Lawrence Burney about their new cover story on Pitchfork, which was printed as a limited-edition zine. They will discuss the interviews that went into the cover story, the making of the zine, their new album Never Enough, and more. RSVP to the event here.
